SOPA – Lists of Supporters

If you take a look at the list of SOPA supporters you would believe you are in a bad dream. It is absolutely mind bugging how some companies, and associations, got the idea to back this. Take a look at this and, if you can, consider someone else for your needs.

This is an election year. It is appropriate to make people understand who is the “Chief Backer of SOPA”. Lamar Smith, a Republican from Texas is the guy that believes people are willing to take this without comment. He makes every statement of the Republican party about freedom obsolete, literally. This is a hint on what the GOP is looking for and believes what their followers are, ignorant and mindless people that don’t care about anything. In a time of high unemployment, they would take away the chance for millions to make a living on their own and force them into the government support system. This is, besides others, exactly what they are doing. Not only that, with this nonsense they actively fight progress in a Nation that is well known for its entrepreneurial spirit and innovation. And, that they are undermining the constitution of the United States, is a different story. They claim to fight Internet piracy, while all they do is creating a protective business model for those that completely lack innovation and ideas on how to compete in a changing world.

If you make information public these days, how can you be surprised when this information is shared by people with other people? If you can’t cope with the new developments in technology and the Internet and don’t want to share anything, don’t publish it, protect your shareholders and investors and get out of business, quick.   If you or your organization is of public interest, information must be shared, just for the simple reason of “public interest”. This counts for all of the companies that support this unfortunate bill, whether that is the NFL, News Corp, Sony Music or any other provider of public information. Those that have developed your business model have done a good job in the past. If they are unable to adjust your business model to the requirements of the time, you need to hire new people. Others before you have done this and were successful. There is no need to hold back progress.

Let’s call out a few of the supporters and non competitive companies of this new time. By the way,, in my very personal opinion, if you are invested in these companies, they seem not to be ready for the challenges ahead and it might be wise to re-consider your investment. Talk to an independent investment adviser that is not supporting SOPA.
